My Starter Pack For Learning English (My Opinion)

Hello and welcome readers,

As you can see the title for this post, it's about how I learn English in my life. I'm not really good and fluent when talking in English.

It started when I was an infant, like 4 years old. My parents bought us (I have siblings) some CDs entitled "Magic English", tapes (most are folklore story), and PC games. All of them were in English, and we played and watched it everyday until we memorized all the dialogues. WOW.
I'm kidding. I don't understand what its meaning and how to pronounce it. For example, a CUCUMBER; I pronounced it "CHU-CHUM-BER". haha..  Well, I'm just a cute, 4 years old innocent, little girl. 😍👩

As I'm grow a little bigger and entered into a primary school, then I've learned English directly. We have an English subject in school. From learning grammar until make an essay. At this stage, I still can't make a good sentence. Each sentence must have some grammar errors. Vocabulary? Not really.. but at that time, I knew some words like, 'ingredient','mission'.(Learned from games, hahah!) I hardly get an 'A' for English tests except for exams. A miracle, perhaps.

In middle school, I still bad at grammar and not used to put some idioms in my essay. A piece of cake, as cool as cucumber, as playful as kitten, as...as.. .  When my teacher praised this student (her favourite, beloved student cuz she really excel in her English lesson), I felt jealousy and envy in every my veins and my heart. I tried, tried, learn grammar and new vocab every day..... I lied. I'm a stubborn and lazy girl. I barely finished my homework except when the teacher wanted to collect it.

When I started my high school life, I've changed. My perception about English is hard, had changed. I realized that learning English is easy after one of my English teacher thought us some tricks to learn grammar. You only can improve your vocab if you read English books, newspaper, and watching English movies with English subtitles. (Actually, I'm a slow learner). My high school's principal encouraged us to speak in English.

Now, I can speak in English. I have the braveness to speak in English with my friends. And I barely have grammar mistakes in my essay. I learned a lot of vocabulary in English novels like The Infernal Devices series, by Cassandra Clare. (I just found Clockwork Angel and still not found other series at my place. I wish I could buy those series and be my beloved collections.)
